Things to do in Mosman
Balmoral Beach and adjoining foreshore park area is the most famous landmark of the suburb with the historic Balmoral Rotunda and Rocky Point Island providing a scenic background to many wedding photographs. The southern end of the beach houses the naval base HMAS Penguin with Middle Harbour is dotted with yachts and boats of all kinds. One of Sydney’s most famous tourist attractions, Taronga Zoo, is only a suburb away from Balmoral and its remarkable collection of animals and stunning harbour-side location make it a must for all visitors to the area.
History of Mosman
Mosman was originally inhabited by the Borogegal Aboriginal people. The first Europeans to settle in the area arrived in the 1830s and established farms and boatyards. In the 1870s, a large development known as Mosman Bay Estate brought the first residents to the area. With its gorgeous foreshore, pretty beaches and proximity to the city, Mosman has grown to one of Sydney’s most exclusive suburbs.
Transport in Mosman
Mosman is located in Sydneys Lower North Shore and is approximately 10 kms (15 minutes bus ride away) from Sydney CBD. Catch the L88/L90 to and from Central station to access Mosman or take a trip on the Sydney Ferries which arrive and depart from Mosman Bay Ferry Wharf and Circular Quay. Mosman is frequently serviced by Sydney Buses and Sydney Ferries. You can also access Mosman by car, which is approximately a 15-20 minute drive from Sydney CBD.
